Hometown: Alma, Ar, but now live in Fayetteville and have for 4 years
When and WHY did you start running?
I started running in high school, but slacked off for a couple years. Kicked it back in to gear in 2010 and haven’t stopped since! It’s my therapy. Makes me feel good. Like nothing can stop me.
Where do you prefer to run? Do you have a favorite route?
I love Lake Fayetteville, it’s beautiful! I run Gulley Parktoo.
What was your “I’M A RUNNER!” moment?
Finishing my first half marathon back in 2014. The feeling was like no other. I was so proud!!
If you could go back and give yourself a piece of advice as a beginner, what would it be?
Don’t compare yourself to others when you run. It only brings you down and makes it hard to want to finish. There will always be someone faster, but to me it’s not about being the fastest!
What motivates you in running? Medals? PRs? Fitness?
Knowing that there is a little girl or boy watching telling their parents that they want to run one day. Or being the inspiration that motivates someone else to get up and get active and live a healthier lifestyle.
Do you have any racing superstitions or traditions?
Just a quick prayer asking for strength and courage to finish.
Do you run solo or with a group?
Solo! Nothing against running in a group, but Running is definitely my “me” time. My time to detox and let go of the world!
Why do you run the Hogeye? What makes it special? Are you running the Hogeye this year?
Its a beautiful, well mapped race, and the weather is always great! Love all the workers/volunteers every year as well. They do a great job at keeping us motivated and hydrated as we run.
Is there anything we didn’t ask that you want to share?
The Hogeye is the first half marathon I ever ran back in 2014 and the only to this day! This will be my 3rd year in a row to do the half.
